How You Can Be Apart of Our Events

Prayer is the most important way you can support these events! We believe that prayer lays the foundation for every successful event. Here are a few specific prayer requests:

  • That we would raise all the funds needed to make each event a success

  • That we would truly be the hands and feet of Jesus, and that those attending would see God in us

  • That those who don’t yet know Him would have the courage to seek God and desire a deeper relationship with Him

  • For the health, strength, and safety of all our volunteers

You can also help by donating! Visit our Donations Page to see how you can give, and check out our Amazon Mexico School Supply Wish List. Prices are listed in Mexican Pesos, but it's safe and easy for U.S. supporters to purchase from Amazon Mexico. Many have done so successfully!

If you prefer to give cash, email Egla at reflejodeamor19@gmail.com to learn how to donate through PayPal.

Thank you for being a Reflejo de Amor—a Reflection of Love!

Above: So excited for his first Bible. Although this Bible is for younger kids, many older kids enjoyed this Bible because of the easy Spanish to English translations. They liked that you could learn about God and learn English at the same time.

Impact and Goals for the 2025 Year

Every year, our reach grows—and so do the needs. It started with just a handful of children. This year we have over 600 kids on our list awaiting school supplies. Each event hosts 20–50 children plus their families, and we hold an average of 15 events per year.

Many of the children who attend our events do not have backpacks or lunch boxes to transport their things to and from school. Most will not be able to afford any school supplies. For specific stories from past events check out our stories page.

To make this possible, we’ve set a fundraising goal of $10,000 to cover the cost of school supplies, Bibles and food for the events. That is only about $16 U.S. per child.

We also hope to expand our support this year and in the future by distributing grocery staples like beans, rice, and oil to elderly community members who often feel forgotten. Any extra money raised will go to buy groceries for the elderly in the community.

Why School Supplies?

Reflejo De Amor exists to reflect God’s love by removing a critical barrier to education: the lack of basic school supplies. While public school in Mexico is free, students must bring their own uniforms and supplies—an expense many families simply cannot afford. Without these essentials, countless children are unable to attend school.

Our mission is to equip students from Kindergarten through 12th grade with the tools they need to succeed. Each child receives items such as:

  • Notebooks

  • Pens and pencils

  • Erasers and white-out

  • Rulers and geometry tools

  • Crayons or colored pencils

  • Backpacks and lunch bags (as funds allow)

  • Bibles

But these events are about more than just supplies—they are about community. Held throughout July, and August (and into September if needed), each event includes games, hot meals, donated clothing and toys, and the message of God’s love.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of age.

How it Started

In 2019 Reflejo De Amor began as a small outreach called Egla’s Back to School Program for School Supplies. That first year, Egla walked door to door through her neighborhood, collecting the names and ages of children in need so she could gather the right supplies for each student. Many people were hesitant to share information with a stranger and shut their doors. But Egla didn’t give up.

With the help of her family and friends, she hosted her first school supply event—offering meals, games, school supplies, and Bibles to the few families who were willing to attend. It was a modest beginning, but filled with faith and love. Looking back, if you had asked Egla then if this would grow into a large-scale ministry serving around 600 children each year, she likely would have said, “No—but anything is possible with God.”

Encouraged by the success of that first outreach, Egla knew she had found her purpose. Alongside her husband, Carlos, and with the support of their son, Jahyvin, and their extended family and friends, Reflejo De Amor was born.

What began with one event has grown into a series of 15+ events each summer, serving hundreds of families across Ensenada, Mexico, and surrounding communities.
